QIU Maintains Global Sustainability Ranking; Makes Top 200 in Reducing Inequalities

· QIU is one of 23 Malaysian universities to make the THE rankings, among 1,408 institutions.
· Only eight local private universities were shortlisted.
· QIU ranked among top 200 universities for the Reducing Inequalities goal

For the second year in a row, QIU’s sustainability efforts have received international recognition—after we were once again listed in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022!

The THE Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

QIU was among only 23 Malaysian universities who made the list, with only eight private universities selected.

Our work towards the “Reducing Inequalities” Sustainable Development Goal landed us among the top 200 institutions worldwide, and we also maintained our overall placing in the 600-801 bracket—from more than 1,400 global universities.

QIU’s sustainability drive is led by the QIU SDG Steering Committee, a multi-faculty committee that consists of four clusters: Education, Research, Leadership, and Operations. Each cluster looks into different areas of concern within the university to plan and implement initiatives that achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our main objective is to raise awareness of the SDGs, as we believe that increased awareness will
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our initiatives.

Students play a vital role in our SDG initiatives, as they will be carrying the mantle of our sustainability efforts for tomorrow.

You can check out some of our students’ SDG-related content creation on our SDG page. Here’s just a taste!

Kudos to everyone who helped us improve our sustainability initiatives throughout the university, and let’s keep working for a better future!
