In line with QIU’s commitment to producing research that benefits society in meaningful and practical ways, the projects presented by the university’s academics and students explored important contemporary issues such as coastal restoration, rare earth element detection, hospitality legal frameworks, and AI-driven smart agriculture for food security.

The programme brought together participants for a series of knowledge-sharing sessions, clinical exposure, and industry-focused learning experiences.

The university contributed essential consumables as well as over-the-counter (OTC) medications, including multivitamins, to support the wellbeing of the elderly residents. The gesture not only provided practical assistance but also reaffirmed QIU’s ongoing collaboration with the two homes.

Dr Adrian, who is Head of Basic Health Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, crafted a stellar presentation focusing on a novel formulation designed to reverse cellular senescence—a critical hallmark of ageing.

Building on previous pharmacy student-led campaigns that addressed issues such as skin care, cardiovascular health and women’s health, this year’s initiative aims to highlight the importance of bone, joint and muscle health across all ages — from posture and device-related problems in children to injury prevention in working adults and fracture risk in older adults

This prestigious honour recognises Prof. Datuk Dr. Allan’s exceptional contributions to the pharmacy profession over a career spanning more than four decades.

Associate Professor Dr Mahibub Mahamadsa Kanakal’s award-winning research has the potential to transform cancer care, improving patients’ quality of life by offering a safer, more personalised treatment option.

Under the programme, graduates will undergo one month of practical training at Perak Health Department facilities, followed by 11 months of academic research and training under QIU’s MPharmSc curriculum.

The collaboration will focus on two key research projects: investigating anti-ageing gene expression in human cells treated with a combination product; and evaluating the cell profileration effects of these compounds on normal and cancerous human cells.
