QIU has officially entered into a strategic research collaboration with HTM Pharmacy through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) which aims to advance scientific research in the fields of anti-aging and cancer treatment.
The collaboration will focus on two key research projects: investigating anti-ageing gene expression in human cells treated with a combination product; and evaluating the cell profileration effects of these compounds on normal and cancerous human cells.
The MOA was signed by Global Integrated Training Associates Chief Executive Officer Nicholas Goh on behalf of QIU and HTM Director Teh Hooi Hong, with witnesses including QIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Prof. Datuk Dr. Allan Mathews, and HTM Healthcare Director Mr. Hong Jee Yan.
The partnership is set for an initial period of 24 months with the possibility of an extension based on mutual agreement. Leading the project from QIU is Associate Professor Dr. Adrian Ng Kwok Wen, who will serve as the Project Leader. Ms. Wong Kai Huey from HTM Pharmacy will take on the role of Co-Principal Investigator. Both parties will work closely to ensure the research is conducted with scientific rigour and aligns with global health standards.
This collaboration is a testament to QIU’s commitment to pioneering research that has real-world applications. By working with HTM Pharmacy, we aim to contribute valuable insights into anti-ageing treatments and cancer research, which can ultimately benefit society.
The research will be conducted at QIU’s laboratory facilities, with progress monitored through milestone achievement reports and end-of-project evaluations. The partnership underscores QIU’s mission to bridge the gap between academia and industry while fostering innovation in pharmaceutical sciences.
This latest tie-up expands our cooperation with HTM Pharmacy, augmenting our partnership on providing a Certificate of Competency in pharmacy. This initiative benefits school leavers who choose to join the workforce right after their SPM examinations, securing the economic future of Perak and reducing youth employment across the nation.
This collaboration marks another significant milestone for QIU in its pursuit of impactful research that contributes to the betterment of healthcare and scientific knowledge.
