QIU expanded opportunities for cross-border learning, research and academic exchange by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with two higher education institutions in Thailand, strengthening its growing network of regional partnerships in health sciences and related fields.
The University signed agreements with Northern College and Nakhonratchasima College (NMC), marking another step in QIU’s efforts to expand academic collaboration across the region, particularly in the areas of health sciences, pharmacy, research and professional development.
The partnerships will provide opportunities for students and academics from QIU and the two Thai institutions to engage in knowledge exchange, collaborative research and joint academic and training initiatives.
Northern College is a leading private higher education institution in northern Thailand, with a strong focus on health sciences and the development of practical graduates who can contribute to sustainable local development. The institution also undertakes academic services and research aimed at addressing community needs, while promoting and preserving Thailand’s arts and cultural heritage.
Under the MoU with Northern College, both institutions will explore collaboration in areas including student and staff exchanges, joint academic programmes, joint research and development projects, as well as workshops and training programmes.
The MoU was signed by Global Integrated Training Associates CEO Nicholas Goh and Northern College Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr Assadang Polnok. Witnessing the signing were QIU Faculty of Pharmacy Deputy Dean (Research, Postgraduate Studies and International Linkages) Assoc. Prof. Dr Ng Yen Ping and Northern College Director of International Relations Dr Thaworn Lorga.


Meanwhile, the MoU with Nakhonratchasima College (NMC) will further expand opportunities for collaboration in health sciences, with a particular emphasis on Chinese Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
NMC, a leading private higher education institution in northeastern Thailand, is committed to producing practical graduates and providing academic services that support sustainable local development. Its academic focus includes health sciences, while its research and community engagement activities seek to address the needs of local communities.
The partnership will facilitate cooperation in student and staff exchanges, joint academic programmes, joint research and development, workshops and training programmes, and the exchange of academic publications.
A key area of the collaboration will be joint research and development in Chinese Medicine, covering areas such as Chinese herbal medicine, medicinal plants, herbal formulations, acupuncture, moxibustion, traditional Chinese diagnostic methods, preventive healthcare, and complementary and integrative medicine.
The two institutions will also explore joint research into the development, quality assessment, safety, efficacy and standardisation of Chinese herbal medicines and herbal products, subject to relevant laws, ethical requirements and regulatory standards.
The MoU was signed by Mr Nicholas Goh and NMC Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr Theera Rithod. The signing was witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr Ng Yen Ping and NMC Faculty of Pharmacy Assistant Dean for Administration, Planning and Quality Assurance Ms Chonlada Judprakob.


The two agreements reflect QIU’s commitment to building meaningful international partnerships that create opportunities for students and academics while contributing to the advancement of knowledge and professional practice.
Through closer collaboration with institutions such as Northern College and NMC, QIU will continue to broaden opportunities for academic exchange, research and experiential learning, while strengthening connections between Malaysia and Thailand’s higher education communities.
The partnerships also reinforce QIU’s focus on developing graduates equipped with international perspectives and practical knowledge, while creating platforms for academics and researchers to collaborate on issues relevant to healthcare, education and community development.
