SK Perempuan Methodist Ipoh recently welcomed an exciting English Camp organised by Quest English Language Centre in conjunction with Quest International University (QIU).
The one-day programme brought together more than 100 enthusiastic students for a fun-filled and interactive learning experience designed to build confidence and improve English communication skills.
The camp featured a variety of engaging activities, including a scavenger hunt, quizzes, interview role-plays, and the lively Hot Seat challenge, which combined speaking and mime to encourage teamwork and quick thinking. Students also took part in vocabulary and sentence-context activities that strengthened their language skills in an enjoyable and meaningful way.

The programme was supported by dedicated TESL student volunteers and lecturers from QIU, providing participants with encouragement and guidance throughout the day. The camp was led by Tom Lowrie, Head of Quest English Language Centre, whose enthusiasm and expertise helped create a dynamic and positive learning environment.
The English Camp was a tremendous success, with students actively participating, building their confidence, and enjoying every activity.
The team from Quest International University and Quest English Language Centre also found the experience immensely rewarding, making the event a memorable example of successful collaboration in promoting English language learning within the community.
The English Camp is part of QIU’s broader commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for learning and development beyond the university campus. Through initiatives that bring its students, lecturers and expertise into the wider community, QIU seeks to make education more accessible while encouraging young people to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need for their future.
Such community-focused activities also provide valuable opportunities for QIU students to put their learning into practice. Through volunteering, outreach programmes and educational activities, students are able to engage directly with different communities, develop their communication and leadership skills, and gain a deeper appreciation of the role they can play in making a positive difference in society.
These efforts extend across a range of areas, reflecting QIU’s commitment to contributing to the social and educational development of the community in Perak. From English language and STEM engagement with schools, to public health awareness campaigns, environmental initiatives and community programmes involving students and staff, the university continues to work with schools, organisations and community groups to create positive and lasting impact.
