QIU’s Foundation Programmes are 1 year programmes that are designed to enhance the study and learning skills that are essential for entrance into an undergraduate degree programme.

The programme provides students with core and elective subjects that will enhance their knowledge using practical and theoretical methods.

FOUNDATION IN ARTS

Foundation in Arts (FIA) is a pre-university level programme that blends Social Science, Information Technology, English and Management courses to give students a solid foundation in their future studies, while at the same time broadening their exposure to other related fields. Such exposure to a wide spectrum of knowledge provides students with an integrated learning experience and an appreciation for how each of these related disciplines impact the working environment in a variety of fields.

FOUNDATION IN BUSINESS

The Foundation in Business (FIB) programme provides students with a broad understanding of business organisations and their structures. It also delves into wider considerations such as business environments, markets, processes and how they work together to contribute to organisational success. FOUNDATION IN SCIENCE

The Foundation in Science (FIS) programme is a three-semester programme tailored to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully enrol in the undergraduate courses of their choice. The FIS programme offers a broad range of core courses that give students more options before they decide on their undergraduate programme.

Core science courses such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Information Technology form the main thrust of this programme. Students have the option of selecting relevant subjects based on their career pathway. They are given early exposure to the courses relevant to their choice of degree programmes, helping them to develop and become familiar with scientific, theoretical, and practical skills. Students will also develop life skills through subjects like Critical Thinking, Interpersonal Communication and Frontier Studies which will make them more adaptable, confident, and team-oriented.

ACCA FOUNDATION IN ACCOUNTANCY

ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (ACCA FIA), formerly CAT is an entry-level qualification developed to give you a solid understanding of the fundamentals of financial management and reporting and enable you to speak the language of business. The programme equips you as a competent and ethical technician, trained to consistent standards, with built-in flexibility so that skills can be tailored to meet different business needs and environments.
