The passion for scientific discovery can begin with a single spark of passion. As an institution of higher learning, we believe education doesn’t only come from structured courses—but also singular events that catalyse the spirit of exploration.
That spirit of scientific exploration was alive and thriving at the NextGen Science 2025 event, organised recently by QIU’s Faculty of Integrated Life Sciences (FILS). The event was designed to spark curiosity and expose students to cutting-edge advancements in science, focusing on biotechnology, environmental technology, and food science.
This year’s campaign focused on some of the brightest STPM Science stream students for an immersive and inspiring experience.
Students and teachers from four districts across the state joined expert-led lectures and interactive hands-on laboratory activities that bridged the gap between classroom theory and real-world scientific applications.

The laboratory sessions proved to be a highlight, offering students the opportunity to handle scientific equipment, perform experiments, and see theories come to life. Meanwhile, the lecture series helped them gain new insights into groundbreaking scientific developments.
For many, it was an eye-opening experience that gave them a clearer understanding of concepts learned in class and even sparked new aspirations for future careers in science and technology.
NextGen Science 2025 was designed to be a launchpad for future innovators, and we thank all participating schools for making this event a resounding success. Here’s to nurturing the next generation of leaders and scientists!
