In the 15 years since our inception, QIU has built a robust network of educational partners spanning the globe. This week, we proudly strengthened that network with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Our latest partners are New Zealand’s first and oldest university, ranked among the top 200 universities in the world.
Through this partnership, both institutions will initially collaborate closely on academic staff development and joint research initiatives, particularly in the area of doctoral education. The MoU also paves the way for student and academic exchanges, as well as the sharing of educational resources and expertise that will strengthen both universities.
The agreement was formalised by QIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Zita Mohd Fahmi and the University of Otago’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, External Engagement, Professor Jessica Palmer.
“This MOU represents far more than ink on paper—it is a bridge. A bridge between institutions, disciplines, cultures, and above all, people. At a time when education must respond swiftly to global challenges and local needs, our collaboration demonstrates how partnerships can fuel not only academic excellence and societal impact,” said Professor Zita.
Professor Jessica Palmer added, “We are delighted to partner with QIU, a university that shares our commitment to nurturing academic talent and producing research with real-world impact. This collaboration will open new pathways for our staff and students to learn from one another, and we look forward to the innovations and discoveries that will emerge from this partnership.”
