Programme Level

Bachelor of Environmental Technology (Honours) at QIU focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and skills to manage, conserve, and protect the environment for sustainable long-term use.

The programme aligns closely with Malaysia’s National Green Technology Policy, which rests on four key pillars: energy, environment, economy, and social, ensuring graduates contribute to national priorities in green development.

With growing public awareness of critical environmental quality issues—such as climate change, global warming, haze pollution, poor drinking water quality, leachate contamination, and improper solid waste and wastewater disposal—the demand for qualified professionals continues to rise.

Under the Environmental Quality Act 1974, prescribed activities require formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports, which must be prepared, submitted, and monitored by trained experts to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards.

The programme therefore aims to train competent individuals in conducting EIAs, thereby improving overall environmental quality and minimising adverse impacts on society and ecosystems.
