QIU Academics, Students Win 2nd Place, Top 15 Prizes at Perak Sejahtera 2030 Research Poster Competition

Academics and students from QIU delivered an outstanding performance at the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Research Poster Competition, continuing QIU’s proud tradition of success at state, national, and regional research platforms.

Competing against more than 50 entries from Perak and beyond, QIU researchers distinguished themselves in a strong field that included institutions such as Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, and Universiti Sains Malaysia, as well as government bodies like Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun and Jabatan Mineral & Geosains.

Leading the accolades was the 2nd-placed team comprising of Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) academics Dr Aervina Misron, Ts. Dr Rohati Shafie, Ts. Dr Abdul Ghafur Hanafi, and FBM Dean Prof Dr Abdul Raheem Mohamad Yusof.

Meanwhile, several other QIU teams earned prizes for their impactful and innovative research projects. The recognised teams were:

  • Ang Sin Wei, Wong Tin Loong, Woon Huan Yuan, and Ms Padmashantini Padmanathan (FBM)
  • Chau Wen Hao, Lau Zhan Quan, and Ms Padmashantini Padmanathan (FBM)
  • Foong Zhen Hin, Wong Kai Huey, and Dr Adrian Ng Kwok Wen (FOP)

In line with QIU’s commitment to producing research that benefits society in meaningful and practical ways, the projects presented by the university’s academics and students explored important contemporary issues such as coastal restoration, rare earth element detection, hospitality legal frameworks, and AI-driven smart agriculture for food security.

The Research Poster Competition was organised with the objectives of providing a platform for researchers to present their findings in a concise and effective visual format, encouraging the exchange of ideas among academics and stakeholders, and strengthening the culture of research and knowledge sharing within the research community. It was held in conjunction with the Perak Policy and Research Conference 2026, which was officiated by Perak Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Sri Saarani Mohamad.

Beyond the accolades earned, the achievement reflects QIU’s continued emphasis on cultivating a strong research culture among both academics and students. The university’s consistent success in research competitions highlights not only the quality of its scholarly output, but also the opportunities provided to students to participate in high-level and impactful research initiatives.

By working alongside experienced academics on real-world studies with tangible societal impact, QIU students gain valuable exposure and practical experience that will serve as a significant advantage in their future careers. Their success at the competition further reinforces the university’s education standards and its dedication to nurturing graduates who are capable of excelling on both academic and professional stages.

Congratulations to all our participants!
