QIU Student Lee Ming Jing Named World Top Scorer in ACCA Financial Reporting Paper

QIU proudly celebrates a remarkable global achievement by its ACCA student, Lee Ming Jing, who has been named the world’s top scorer in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Financial Reporting paper.

Lee delivered an exceptional performance in the March 2026 examination, earning an outstanding 99 marks—a result that secured her the top position worldwide, as well as in Malaysia.

The 20-year-old Ipoh native joined QIU’s Foundation ACCA programme in 2024, before enrolling as a full ACCA student last year. She described the programme as an avenue to elevate herself and maximise her full potential.

After her SPM exams, she had multiple education options, but chose ACCA after meeting QIU senior lecturer and ACCA Centre Head Mr Gobu Nachiappan. Gobu, she said, saw her potential early on.

I’m from a normal family and I always wanted to elevate myself. Mr Gobu told me about ACCA’s international recognition, and how it would give me a chance to win a global prize. Even then, he predicted that I could do it, and I’m really happy that I could make that prediction come true,” she said.

Asked about the secret to her success, Lee said the answers were simple—hard work and determination. She studies six to seven hours a day, while also balancing a part-time job in the service industry to help out her family.

The Ipoh native thanked her parents, family, her lecturers Mr Gobu and Mr Sundra Kanth Ayavoo for supporting her through her journey. But while most people would be happy with being on top of the world at the age of 20, she is not one to rest on her laurels.

“Before this, I feel I’ve let opportunities go because I didn’t focus. I want to keep working hard and I’d like to win more awards. In the long term, I want to be a Chartered Accountant when I graduate,” she said.

QIU Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh said Lee’s exceptional performance reflects the institution’s academic excellence, and the discipline, commitment, and perseverance required to succeed at the highest level of professional accounting education.

We congratulate Lee on this remarkable accomplishment and commend her for bringing honour to the university, while setting an inspiring example for her peers and future ACCA students,” he said.

“The result is a significant milestone for both Lee and QIU, underscoring the quality of teaching, learning support, and academic guidance provided by the university and its ACCA programme. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of QIU’s approach in developing students who are capable of achieving world-class results in internationally recognised professional qualifications.”

Through achievements such as this, QIU continues to affirm its commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and the preparation of industry-ready graduates who can compete confidently on a global platform.

Lee’s triumph continues the university’s tradition of winning international accolades, which includes the 2019 World Sustainable Chemistry Challenge, and Green University of the Year at the 2025 International Conference on Sustainable Globalisation (ICSG) Global Sustainability Awards.
