Continuing a tradition of successful public-facing sustainability initiatives, QIU wrapped up a vibrant and impactful community event with the conclusion of its “Patch the Planet with Reezy” exhibition at AEON Mall Kinta City recently.
The exhibition served as the grand finale of a week-long initiative that brought the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into everyday conversations through hands-on activities, student showcases, and interactive experiences.
In line with ‘Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals’, the event was a true group effort, bringing together commercial companies, environmental and community NGOs, schools and local government, as well as QIU staff and students!
Designed to spark action and awareness among the public, the event transformed sustainability into something tangible, fun, and family-friendly. Over the course of the week, mall visitors were treated to a diverse range of exhibits and challenges that showed how simple lifestyle changes can contribute to a greener, more equitable world.
A key feature of the exhibition was the student-led SDG Group Presentations, where participants demonstrated creative, practical solutions to global issues—ranging from food waste and clean energy to education and responsible consumption. Their engaging storytelling and thought-provoking ideas inspired many attendees to reflect on their own habits and responsibilities.
Families and children especially enjoyed the “Complete the Quest” challenge—an SDG-themed obstacle-style activity that blended physical fun with critical thinking. Meanwhile, interactive booths allowed visitors to learn about sustainable living through green health advice, eco-friendly products, and recycling workshops, supported by partners such as ThemeGood, Ho Yan Hor, and Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh.

One of the highlights of the day was the Sustainable Fashion Show, where creativity took centre stage. Contestants across youth and adult categories showcased outfits made from recycled materials, proving that fashion and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand. Winners took home prizes valued at over RM1,000.

“Sustainability begins with awareness—and this exhibition shows how accessible and creative it can be,” said Professor Dr Abdul Raheem Mohamad Yusof, Dean of QIU’s Faculty of Business and Management and the event’s organising chairperson. “Our goal was to engage people in a way that’s memorable and fun, especially for the next generation of changemakers.”
With its mix of education, creativity, and community spirit, “Patch the Planet with Reezy” successfully bridged the gap between awareness and action—leaving participants inspired to take meaningful steps towards a sustainable future.
