QIU undergraduates Jasreena Rais and Joshua Chai are set to pack their bags for an exciting trip to the United States after they were selected for the prestigious Global UGRAD Exchange Programme!
Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) student Jasreena and Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology(Honours) student Joshua will be heading to the US in January after they passed a stringent set of challenges.
From a large field of applicants, only ten students were chosen from Malaysia—and two of them were from QIU!
QIU is the only private university to make the list this year—another illustration of our quality education across a range of programmes.
The UGRAD programme offers undergraduate students from over 60 countries a chance to study in the United States for a semester or academic year at a U.S. college or university. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the program aims to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the United States and other countries.
Joshua will be heading to Utah Tech University, while Jasreena will make her way to the Centenary College of Louisiana.
Describing his emotions, Joshua said: “I am sincerely grateful for the invaluable assistance I have received from my dean, lecturers, programme coordinator, and the university as a whole.
“Their unwavering support has played a pivotal role in enabling me to pursue my passion and fulfil my dreams. I am particularly excited about the upcoming exchange programme, an opportunity that would not have been possible without their guidance and encouragement. This is truly a dream come true, as it will undoubtedly broaden my horizons, and for that, I am immensely thankful to my university.”
Jasreena added: “This has been an extraordinary accomplishment, one that I will cherish forever. Throughout this remarkable journey, QIU has stood by my side, providing unwavering support and guidance. This achievement is not solely the result of my individual efforts; it is a testament to the collective strength of the QIU community. I am deeply grateful to everyone at QIU – from my exceptional Dean and faculty members, dedicated programme coordinator, and my friends in class who continuously motivated me to push beyond my limits.”
“My aspirations go far beyond personal success. I envision shattering the constraints of societal norms and striving to transform Malaysia into a better nation. With QIU’s unwavering support, I am ready to embrace this transformative journey and leave a lasting impact on my beloved country.”
Kudos to both our students, and we hope more of our students follow in your footsteps.
