Resume writing and interview coaching workshop for engineering students

Apart from introducing cutting edge technologies in Electronics and Communication Engineering field to our students, Quest International University Perak (QIUP) IS committed to train engineering students in soft skill development. This will help our student to excel in their career.

To face the job market as a successful graduate, a good resume and interview skill is must. A good resume must be a powerful tool that will get interviews. To write a good resume, they must aware about resume formats, the experts’ preference and how to effectively write summary statements. Next thing is about facing the interview, and train them according to the following what will their interview be like? What should they take with them? How should they answer interview questions? What should they wear?

QIUP-FIST Organised a Workshop on Resume Writing and Interview Coaching For Electronics and Communication Engineering Students on 31 October 2015. Malaysia’s 1st Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW) and a Certified Employment Interview Professional (CEIP) Mr.Hans Toh, Hans Articulate & Solution came to QIUP to train our students.

Mr.Hans discussed about good professional resume format and the six sections of a resume: Heading, objective, education, work experience, special skills, and references. Secondly, he briefed the skills to be developed in our life, such as work, education, internships, volunteering, and extracurricular activities. Then he helped the students to develop LinkedIn profile and writing an impressive cover letter.

Last session was all about Interview Data Preparation, The 5 Knows, How to market themselves in the job market, Dressing, Body Language and Strategies in Answering Interview Questions.

Special Thanks to Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer, Quest International University Perak (QIUP)  and Associate Professor. Dr.Yagasena Appannah, Dean, Faculty of Integrative Sciences and Technology for their support to organise this workshop.
