QIU proudly celebrates the remarkable success of two of its Biotechnology students, Ng Caryne and Koo Zhen Min from the Faculty of Integrated Life Sciences (FILS), who represented us with distinction at the prestigious ASEAN–China–India Youth Leadership Summit (ACIYLS) Grand Finals in Singapore.
The university extends its warmest congratulations to Koo Zhen Min, whose multinational team—comprising youth leaders from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, India, and Myanmar—clinched the First Prize for their groundbreaking innovation.
Their award-winning project featured a millimetre-wave radar sensor system designed to track and monitor real-time flood levels within Bangkok’s intricate urban sewer network. Leveraging AI and smart mapping, the system analyses flood data and provides predictive forecasts to help residents and businesses mitigate mobility issues and economic losses during heavy rainfall.
The project’s real-world relevance and technical sophistication earned the team S$10,000!
The Summit brought together 120 participants from 12 countries, offering a unique platform for young leaders to collaborate, innovate, and develop sustainable solutions to pressing regional challenges. Over the course of six intensive days, Caryne and Zhen Min gained invaluable exposure to industry experts, participated in leadership and innovation workshops, and networked with fellow youth leaders from across Asia.
The event also included a special meeting with the Malaysian Ambassador in Singapore, providing the students with further inspiration and encouragement to continue pursuing impactful change on the global stage.

Once again, we congratulate Ng Caryne and Koo Zhen Min for their outstanding performance and leadership. Their success reflects the university’s commitment to nurturing innovative thinkers who are equipped to make a real-time impact in today’s interconnected world.
