QIU Professor Lands Prestigious National Outstanding Educator Merit Award

Professor Dr Loke Siew-Phaik, Head of the Faculty of Business and Managements School of Postgraduate Studies has received the Merit Award in National Outstanding Educator-University Category at the Private Education Excellence Awards 2023.

This prestigious accolade, awarded by the Private Education Co-operative of Malaysia, recognises the hard work, dedication, and excellence that private educators and institutions bring to the education sector.

Describing the field as “very competitive”, Prof Loke said the candidates went through a rigorous process of applications, shortlisting and interviews before the choice was made.

“There were more than 70 applicants for 17 categories, including academics from Monash University, Nottingham University, Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation, USCI College, INTI, Xiamen University, Sunway University and many more,” she said.

Professor Dr Loke, whose experience in academia spans nearly two decades, received the award for her contribution as an educator in teaching and research—as well as her leadership roles in knowledge contribution.

A winner of multiple medals and accolades throughout her career, she joins a long list of QIU academics who have walked away with awards on national and international levels.

“I am honoured and grateful for this accolade. My gratitude goes to my family for their love and support, to the management of QIU for their guidance and opportunitis, and to my colleagues and friends for their support and assistance,” she said.

Congratulations Prof Loke! Continue inspiring our students and we look forward to more stellar achievements!
