QIU Inks Agreement with China’s Longyan University to Expand Research and Education

At QIU, we’re always looking for like-minded collaborative partners who are striving for educational and research excellence.

Recently, we had the pleasure of expanding our list of partnerships by signing a Cooperation Agreement with China’s Longyan University. Our newest partner is one of the full-time public undergraduate universities in the Fujian Province, offering over 40 majors across eight fields of study.

The collaboration will see both educational institutions join forces on education, in-depth biotechnology research, and the characteristics of teaching.

During the virtual signing ceremony, the agreement was signed by QIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Zita Mohd Fahmi and Longyan University President Mr Zou Weidong.

Both institutions had preceded the Cooperation Agreement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January, which was signed by QIU Chief Operating Officer Mr Nicholas Goh and Longyan University’s Mr Zou.

“Over the past three months, our universities have been holding meaningful discussions about our
plans to work together on education, in-depth biotechnology research, and the characteristics of teaching. We look forward to combining our resources with a like-minded university that shares many of our educational values,
” said Professor Zita.

Also present at the signing were the Dean of QIU’s Faculty of Integrated Life Sciences Prof Dr Vilasini Pillai, Biotechnology Programme Coordinator Dr Kamariah Hassan, Head of China Recruitment and Collaboration Ms Li Rui, and QIU’s China representative Mr Li Haicheng.

Our partners were also represented by Longyan University Vice-President Professor Qiu Longxin, Director of the International Cooperation Office Mr Lin MingjieDirector of Academic Affairs Office Mr Hu Zhibiao and the Dean of the College of Life Science Mr Huang Cuiqin.

Congratulations all around! We look forward to more innovations and success stories from our new partnership!
