QIU brought the world of work closer to its students as industry professionals, employers and organisations from across Malaysia gathered on campus for Industry Day 2026.
Held over two days at La Place Café and various venues across the university, the event created opportunities for students to engage directly with industry representatives, explore career pathways, gain insights into evolving workplace expectations and build valuable professional connections.
Welcoming guests and industry partners to the event, QIU Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh said Industry Day transformed the campus into a meeting point between students and the working world.
He highlighted that while QIU’s academic programmes provide students with the knowledge and skills they need, meaningful exposure to industry allows them to take that learning further by engaging with professionals and understanding the realities of their chosen fields.
The event brought together organisations from a wide range of sectors, including engineering, technology, cybersecurity, finance, accounting, hospitality, life sciences, education and healthcare, giving students the opportunity to hear directly from professionals about industry challenges, skills in demand and available career opportunities.

The two-day programme also reflected the changing nature of the workplace, with technology and artificial intelligence reshaping industries and employers increasingly looking for graduates who can communicate, collaborate, adapt, solve problems and continue learning.
Students were encouraged to make the most of the opportunities available by visiting company booths, attending industry talks and forums, introducing themselves to employers and submitting their resumes. Some also had the opportunity to participate in interviews on the spot.

QIU and AIA Group strengthen industry-academia collaboration
A key highlight of the opening programme was the exchange of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between QIU and multinational insurance and financial services company AIA Group.
The MoA was exchanged by Mr Nicholas and AIA Partnership Distribution Director of Bancassurance Sales Mr Vic Ng, followed by a commemorative ceremony and exchange of tokens of appreciation.

The partnership provided a tangible example of the kind of industry engagement that Industry Day seeks to encourage — connecting students and academics with organisations while creating pathways for collaboration, internships and future careers.
Conversations that bring the workplace into the classroom
Beyond the company booths, Industry Day featured a series of talks, forums and stakeholder discussions held at venues including the Auditorium, The Curve, EduHub, BuzzHub at ASB and the Faculty of Medicine Auditorium.

For industry partners, Industry Day also offered an opportunity to meet QIU’s students and identify potential interns and future employees, while gaining fresh perspectives from a new generation of talent.
The event underscored QIU’s commitment to supporting students beyond the classroom by creating platforms that help them understand employer expectations, develop relevant skills and build confidence as they prepare to enter the workforce.
By bringing industry and academia together on campus, Industry Day 2026 gave students a practical opportunity to connect their education with the possibilities of their future careers, while enabling industry partners to discover the talent and potential within QIU.
