It’s time to recognise another amazing sporting moment for our talented students!
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL) student Toe Eng Hong shone on the international martial arts stage, winning silver medals in three categories in the 11th International WuDeBei Traditional Wushu Competition 2024.
The contest, which took place in Penang from 29 November to 1 December, had talents from around the world, and Toe stood out as an outstanding contender on the international stage.
The first-year student joined participants from five countries, including Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, China and Egypt. He also competed against opponents from institutions like the University of Macau and Universiti Sains Malaysia, highlighting his prowess and performance.
Eng Hong’s dedication to training with the Yueh Fei Martial Art Club paid off with silver medals in the Traditional Short Weapon, Traditional Long Weapon, and Traditional Southern Fist Male Adult category.
Participating in international competitions allows our students to interact with people from various cultures while also developing a worldwide network of relationships. Successes like these enhance the university’s reputation and demonstrate the quality of training and assistance provided, instilling pride and inspiration in the QIU community.
And of course, this achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of consistent training and perseverance.
Congratulations, Eng Hong! We are happy to celebrate another champion in our midst. Keep up the hard work and dedication, your determination will lead you to even greater triumphs.
