CEO SERIES 2019
Two of the country’s foremost media industry leaders, who recently took time out of their busy schedules to share their invaluable industry experience with students from QIU. Leo Burnett Group Malaysia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tan Kien Eng and Universal Music Malaysia, Singapore & Indochina Managing Director (MD) Kenny Ong were speakers at the inaugural edition of the QIU CEO Series 2019 here recently – a forum to discuss ‘Transformational Changes in the Media Industry & Future Careers’. Tan and Ong were joined by Global Integrated Training Associates CEO Nicholas Goh on the panel of speakers.


SOCIAL SCIENTIST SERIES
The QIU Communication faculty along with the Foundation in Arts programme organised the Social Scientist Series where communication professionals were invited to present on their experiences in various communication related positions. They shared their experiences of the Malaysian media landscape, freedom of speech and journalistic ethics. Students were invited to ask questions and contribute as the talk went along rather than saving enquires to the end which led to a spirited exchange and excellent back and forth dialogue.

QIU made an impactful debut at the Immersion, Projects, Appreciation and Tribute (IMPACT) competition by clinching the Best Newcomer University Award. The competition, held at Penang's Universiti Sains Malaysia, also saw Advertising student Kourtney Goh crowned as the 2nd Runner Up in the Feature writing competition. The competition attracted more than a hundred entries from 23 universities from Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.


Students from the QIU Debate/Communications Club did the University proud when they clinched podium finishes in three categories at the 2017 National English Olympics (NE017).
