Thirty-three of QIU’s medical students have officially become doctors after sailing through their final-year Clinical Professional Examination (CPE) examination at Hospital Taiping recently.
All of the 33 students from Batch Six passed their final year, notching up another 100 per cent passing rate for the university.
Almost exactly a year ago, we celebrated the achievements of 53 MBBS Batch Four students, who also achieved a 100 per cent passing rate. Six months ago, 25 students from Batch Five also achieved the same perfect passing rate—so we have quite a tradition going!
The students’ success was a culmination of five years of hard work, having joined QIU in September 2016.
The candidates were evaluated by six external examiners from four universities—who had some wonderful things to say!
“The examiners were extremely impressed by the students’ marvellous performance. They were taken aback by how well the students did despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dato’ Dr Sellaiah S. Pillay.
Dato’ Sellaiah noted that the achievement was aided by a formidable collaboration between the faculty and the local health authorities.
“We have a wonderful working relationship with Hospital Taiping. I must extend a special thanks to the hospital director and staff who were extremely supportive. Our staff from the Faculty of Medicine also did a stellar job, working tirelessly to ensure the exams proceeded smoothly throughout the weekend.”
“But of course, the day belongs to our talented students who will be the next generation of lifesavers. Their commitment and steel under pressure are a credit to the University.”
Congratulations to all our new doctors from Batch Six!
