Sometimes, the best gift you can give is a memory. A recollection of a shared activity, a hug, or a joyous smile.
And during the season of giving (and giving back), QIU’s School of Education and University Social Responsibility committee joined forces to create some cherished Christmas memories with children from the Ray of Hope home.

Ray of Hope is a non-profit organisation that reaches out to people with learning disabilities. Their noble efforts have been a pillar of support for the community for years, and we were proud to host a fun Yuletide bash on campus!
The Jingle Fiesta festivities were led by our own School of Education students and featured fun activities like dances and drama performances—which were met with cheers of glee from our guests of honour.
In between delicious food breaks, our Christmas revellers also joined in interactive festive activities like cupcake decoration and do-it-yourself hat creation.

Amidst the fun and games, it was important to recognise the learning that was taking place. Our students gained precious hands-on experience in how to care for children with disabilities, as well as how to organise an event successfully. As they say, the best way to learn is by doing, right?
