The School of Education is building a hot streak of innovation accolades, after two of its academics struck silver at the Innovation Showcase 2024, organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Ummu Hani Yahaya and Assoc. Prof. Dr Aznan Che Ahmad won the award for their latest teaching creation DaDaDiDi Dadu—a dice-shaped teaching material designed to be fun, engaging, flexible, and highly applicable in early childhood and special needs education settings.
The competition—which included participants from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Universiti Teknologi MARA and more— brings together events and activities related to innovation across disciplines, specializing in education.
Held in conjunction with the Malaysian Education Deans Council National seminar, it zeroes in on educators, students, researchers, scholars and innovators, while also enlivening the culture of innovation and creating opportunities for the commercialisation of innovation products.
Showcase participants presented a variety of innovations across fields such as education, business, engineering, and geography.
The award-winning creation turned heads for its ability to solve common issues faced by teachers, such as rigid and inflexible teaching materials; a lack of time to prepare materials that align with lessons; and the high cost of purchasing quality teaching resources.
This marks Ummu Hani’s second award in quick succession after she won a Bronze Award (Education Cluster) at the 7th Carnival of Research and Innovation (CRI2024).
Our heartiest congratulations go out to both lecturers for making waves with another innovation that benefits society!
