QIU Joins Forces with the Malaysian Medical Association to Promote Mental Wellness

Quest International University (QIU) reaffirmed its dedication to student well-being by organizing a Mental Health Awareness Program in collaboration with the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Perak Branch. The programme, designed to promote psychological wellness among students, featured a range of engaging and impactful sessions.

One of its key highlights was a mental health screening session, providing students with a supportive and confidential platform to assess their mental health status. This initiative underscored QIU’s proactive approach to identifying and addressing mental health concerns among its student community.

The event began with a warm welcome from MMA Perak Branch chairman Dr Suresh Subramaniam, who highlighted the importance of student mental wellness and set the tone for the day’s activities.

Dr. Banu Nisa Bt Abdul Hamid, a Family Medicine Specialist, delivered an insightful talk on Mental Health Literacy. She covered essential topics such as recognizing the signs of mental illness and understanding effective management strategies, equipping students with valuable knowledge to navigate mental health challenges.

The program also featured an interactive session on Stress Management and Relaxation Therapy, conducted by occupational therapists Noor Farihan Bt Abdul Gani and Priyanga A/P Vasantha Kumar. Students learned practical techniques for managing academic stress and maintaining emotional well-being. The therapists introduced simple relaxation methods and coping strategies that students could easily integrate into their daily lives.

This comprehensive programme, combining mental health screenings, educational talks, and hands-on workshops, exemplified QIU’s commitment to fostering a supportive and holistic environment for its students. By prioritising mental health, QIU continues to empower its students to thrive academically and personally.
