Since our inception as an institute of higher learning, we’ve endeavoured to facilitate knowledge sharing that will have a powerful positive impact on human wellbeing.
We were honoured to collaborate with Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun to host the prestigious Ipoh International Teaching Week, which brought together an esteemed assembly of over 70 medical experts and professionals from Malaysia and Indonesia.
The series of workshops, which took place from 22-25 October, witnessed a wide array of discussions, lectures, and demonstrations aimed at advancing the field of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) medicine. These activities focused on endoscopic sinus and ear surgery, as well as temporal bone dissection.
The Ipoh International Teaching Week is an annual congregation of leading specialists and medical practitioners who share their knowledge and insights into the latest developments in the field. This year, QIU took the helm as the host institution, providing a platform for these experts to exchange ideas, collaborate on research, and explore innovative treatments.
All the activities were carried out at the Faculty of Medicine’s comprehensive industry-mirroring medical facilities, including our anatomy dissection hall and brand-new lecture rooms.

Endoscopic sinus surgery course chairman Dr Harvinder Singh A/L Dalip Singh said QIU was chosen as the host due to our standout facilities.
“The university’s new facilities were top-notch, setting a conducive learning environment for us to train future surgeons. It was the ideal place for them to hone new skills and techniques for ear and sinus surgery,” he said.
“We also appreciate the hospitality extended by QIU, who were invested and interested in helping us facilitate the three-day event,” added Otorhinolaryngology Association of Ipoh president Dr Philip Rajan A/L Devesahayam.
“Thanks to this conference, the public will be able to benefit from cutting-edge minimally invasive surgery. This in turn leads to lower morbidity, lesser healing time and a decrease in hospital space,” said Otorhinolaryngology Association of Ipoh secretary Dr Zabrina Marnel Samarakoddy.
All of us at QIU would like to thank our guests for the opportunity to collaborate on such an impactful gathering of medical minds. We have no doubt that it will have a far-reaching impact on the development of new treatments and approaches for the benefit of patients nationwide!
