Quest International University Perak (QIU) academics did the university proud when they won the silver and bronze awards at the recent 8th International Innovation, Invention and Design Competition (INDES 2019).
The competition organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan Perak themed “Reinventing the Fundamentals” saw two teams from the university participating under Category A (Professionals and Academics)
The first team from QIU comprising of Dr. Hema Ramachandran and Dr. Ashok Gnanasekaran participated under the Science, Engineering and Technology theme, swept the silver award for their project entitled “Biodegradable and Biocompatible Polyhydroxyalkanoates Microspheres as Matrix for Encapsulation of Caesalpinia bonducella Extract”.
Meanwhile the second team from QIU made up of Dr Paran Gani, Dr Chuck Chuan Ng, Dr Lee Sin Li, Dr Ang Kean Hua, Turkeswari Uvarajan and Nur Hanis Zulkernain participated under the Green and Sustainability theme swept the bronze award for their project entitled “Sustainable Eco-Friendly Plastic Sand Bricks”.
Held at Casuarina Hotel Ipoh, Category A of the competition saw 66 participants from local institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Putra Malaysia, University of Malaya, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Segi College Subang Jaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia and Polytechnic Sultan Azlan Shah.
The competition, besides providing a platform to showcase our project products for commercial value, it also proved to be a great avenue for networking for future collaboration.
