We’ve all wondered how it must feel like – strutting and posing with supreme confidence in a studio or on a catwalk; cameras flashing, outfit sparkling, all eyes on you.
Well, who better to ask than two young talents in the modelling game? Especially if they’re also talented QIU students?
Yesterday, over 100 of our staff and students got a first-hand insight into the unique world of modelling and pageantry, during the inaugural Coffee with STAD session with professional models Ainaa Azhari and Amreet Kaur Sra.
Amreet, who has worked with global names like Gucci, Carlo Rino and Adidas, won Miss Earth Penang 2016 ( her first-ever pageant) and finished second in Miss Earth Malaysia that same year. She has represented Malaysia in the Miss Tourism Queen International 2017 where she won the title of Miss Elegance, and also finished in the top 18 of Miss World Malaysia.
Diploma in Business Management student Ainaa, 21, is an actress, model and beauty queen who was 2nd runner-up in Miss Virtual Malaysia 2019 and 1st runner-up in Gadis Panca 2017.
The duo were the ideal guests to kick off the first Coffee with STAD session, which already looks set to be a hotly-anticipated addition to our QIU activities.
Hosted by Student Affairs Division, the lively chat show began by delving into the guests’ beginnings in modelling and how their choice was viewed by their families and society.
Ainaa and Amreet shared their thoughts on how modern modelling and pageantry was moving beyond the stereotypical standards of what is judged to be ‘beautiful’.
They also opened up on their greatest fears in the industry and passed along tips on how others could enter the world of modelling and pageantry.
The fun-filled chat wrapped up with a series of quickfire offbeat questions and an engaging Q&A session with the audience.
Kudos to the Student Affairs Division for once again coming up with an entertaining and merry way to learn about the real-world industry. We’re definitely looking forward to the next session!
