When it comes to being competitive, it is said that “if you are standing still, you are actually going backwards”.
At QIU, we’re constantly seeking out avenues to advance and update our pedagogy—the very bread and butter of what we offer our students. At every opportunity, we’re working with academic and industry experts to ensure our curriculum is infused with the latest information and techniques used in the real world.
This week, we had the pleasure of hosting another of those experts: Professor Scott Compton, PhD, a Professor and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at Singapore’s Duke-NUS Medical School.
Professor Compton, who is also the Program Director and co-creator of the Master of International Translational Medicine (MITM) programme, visited QIU for a curriculum review and knowledge-sharing session.

During his two-day visit to QIU, our medical faculty traded insight with Professor Compton on topics like curriculum governance, and assessment strategies.
Our students and alumni were also invited to a fruitful discussion on the medical field, and the exciting, meaningful journeys ahead of them.
Dr Compton also provided beneficial input on the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) option offered to our students, which gives applicants a chance to become a specialist in the US. In particular, he suggested strategies that will further advance our medical programme’s assessments.

On behalf of the Faculty of Medicine and the university, we’d like to thank Professor Compton for his time and expertise. We’d love to see you back at QIU again!
