The best way to learn the craft of storytelling is to get involved in telling stories. For students aspiring to careers in media and creative content, that means going beyond the classroom to experience how ideas are developed, produced and brought to life.
With this in mind, QIU has formalised a strategic partnership with production company Fat Bidin Sdn Bhd through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), opening up new opportunities for students to gain practical industry exposure and learn directly from experienced media professionals.
The agreement was signed by Global Integrated Training Associates Chief Executive Officer Mr Nicholas Goh and Fat Bidin Founder and Director Mr Zan Azlee, marking a shared commitment to strengthening the connection between academic learning and professional media practice.
For QIU’s School of Communication (SOC), the collaboration is particularly significant as it will provide students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the creative industry through hands-on learning, knowledge exchange and direct engagement with industry practitioners.

Planned activities under the partnership include guest lectures, industry talks, student mentorship programmes and curriculum enrichment initiatives. Both organisations will also explore opportunities to organise seminars, workshops, webinars and other knowledge-sharing events.
These initiatives are intended to give students a closer look at the realities of working in media and creative production, allowing them to learn from professionals while developing the practical skills needed to turn creative ideas into compelling content.
Fat Bidin brings valuable industry experience to the partnership. The boutique production company specialises in directing, producing, scriptwriting, videography, journalism and multimedia content creation, with a portfolio of collaborations involving local and international media organisations. Its work spans documentaries, current affairs programmes and multimedia projects.
The partnership also reflects the changing demands of the communication and media landscape, where aspiring professionals need more than theoretical knowledge. They must be able to think creatively, adapt to new formats, understand audiences and translate ideas into engaging content across different platforms.
By bringing industry experience closer to the classroom, QIU hopes to help students build these capabilities while developing a better understanding of professional expectations and working practices.
Beyond student development, the collaboration will also create opportunities for academics and industry professionals to exchange knowledge and explore areas of mutual interest, including curriculum enrichment, research and innovation.
For QIU, the tie-up with Fat Bidin reinforces its commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement, ensuring that students are not merely learning about the creative industries but are better prepared to contribute to them.
We look forward to seeing the fruits of this exciting collaboration. Welcome to the QIU family, Fat Bidin!
