A visit to a chocolate museum and one of the country’s foremost bread brand’s bakeries sounds more like an awesome vacation than a knowledge-seeking trip.
Well, a group of Foundation in Business (FIB) and Diploma in Business Management students had the privilege and thrill to go on an educational tour to the homes of two delicious products – the Chocolate Museum in Kota Damansara and Shah Alam’s Gardenia Bakeries Bakers Maison.
The day-long tour aimed to expose the students to the real-world manufacturing environment while teaching them about the processes involved in food manufacturing.
At the Chocolate Museum, the students were given a preview of the origins of chocolate, from cocoa bean to chocolate made products. They learnt that there are four types of chocolate consisting of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate and ruby chocolate.
The museum also offered an interactive exploration of the chocolate world in addition to a chocolate-making demonstration.
Next, the group visited Gardenia Bakeries Bakers Maison. Upon arrival, they were received with a warm welcome and were given a brief introduction of their corporate profile before proceeding with a video presentation.
The students were then brought to experience the production stages of the sandwich bread-making process, beginning with sponge dough making to the packaging process. At the end of this tour, the students received Gardenia goodie bags as complimentary gifts.
All in all, it was a fascinating and enlightening trip for everyone involved. Kudos to the students and lecturers who made it happen and thank you to the companies involved for being such wonderful hosts!
