It was a historic moment indeed when Quest International University Perak (QIUP) inked a smart partnership MOU with National Institute of Ophthalmic Sciences (NIOS), the academic arm of Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital (THONEH) recently.
The MOU was signed by Dr. Norasidi bin Salim Al-Haj, the General Manager / Chief Executive representing THONEH and Dato’ Dr. Raman Narayanasamy, Vice Chancellor of QIUP at the hospital.
At the ceremony, Dr. Norasidi said that smart partnerships such as these are the way to go moving forward.
“I am indeed happy to sign this MOU today and this sets an example of how we need to move forward. It is important that we work in cooperation with entities such as QIUP instead of competing. THONEH and QIUP each have their own strengths and this MOU will ensure we work together to tap on the strength of each other” add Dr. Norasidi
Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer of QIUP said that this move will ensure the resources of both entities can be shared and the benefits will be reaped by the public.
“I am happy that this MOU was signed quickly and we can now work on sharing resources. We do not have to duplicate investment in purchasing equipment that THONEH has and they in return can use our equipment and academic resources. This is a healthy partnership and the savings from this partnership can be passed on to the public” added Mr. Goh.
The collaboration agreement establishes an academic cooperation and partnership in the mutual are of interest such as cooperating and working together in student selection and providing students’ placement or admission into degree programmes upon completion of foundation studies, co-sponsor seminars, courses, workshops and other academic meetings on matters of mutual benefits and continue to explore opportunities for developing cooperation in academic matters.
