In ensuring students of QIUP are truly job-ready when they graduate, Quest International University Perak signed an MOU with Syeun Hotel as part of an agreement for the hospitality and tourism students to pursue their internship training at Syeun Hotel.

The MOU was signed by Ms. Maggie Ong, General Manager of Syeun Hotel and Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer of QIUP.

At the signing ceremony, Ms. Maggie Ong said that she was very pleased that QIUP has taken a proactive stance in ensuring their students graduate as job-ready.

“There is an increase in students pursuing hospitality and tourism related programmes in the market now. But unfortunately, these graduates come only with theoretical knowledge and don’t have sufficient practical knowledge.

“The hotel industry currently still depends heavily in promoting rank and file employees to higher level management roles as they have the necessary experience. Degree and Diploma students lack the required skill sets required to fit into higher level management positions. I am happy to see that QIUP is working towards ensuring their graduates are truly job-ready by acquiring the necessary theoretical and practical experience through the singing of MOU such as this” added Ms. Ong.

Mr. Nicholas Goh said that QIUP is committed to making Perak a tourist destination and not just a transit stop for potential visitors.

“Many tourists are not aware of what Perak has to offer. QIUP is working with not only Syeun Hotel but also Destination Perak to train our graduates to possess the necessary skill sets required to ensure they are ready to fit into the wide spectrum of hospitality and tourism industry.

“I am confident that Syeun Hotel will prove to be a great training ground for our students and being one of the more established hotels in Ipoh, Syeun has a lot to offer our students. We will work closely with Syeun which will also provide constant feedback about our students for continuous improvement” added Mr. Goh.
