QIU undergraduates exposed to employment opportunities in financial planning and capital market services

Ensuring QIU graduates are employed as soon as they graduate has always been the priority for the University. The university’s career services division is constantly looking out for opportunities available in the industry and assists undergraduates  with honing their job search skills, identifying and working toward career goals, getting referrals to employers and boosting networking skills.

Recently, 41 students pursuing the Bachelor of Science (Hons) Actuarial Sciences, Bachelor of Finance (Hons) and Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) had the privilege to attend  the 3rd MFPC Financial Planning Aspiration Day 2019  themed of “Employment and Career” held in Kuala Lumpur.

This trip was organised to expose our undergraduates to the potential employment and engagement opportunities in the financial planning advisory services and capital market services in Malaysia. Organised by the Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC),  the objective of the aspiration day was to provide an interactive platform for young talents to seek clarifications and/or internship and employment opportunities with the financial institutions and licensed financial advisory firms.

Our undergraduates attended three types of engagement sessions which was the Sembang Santai ie: coffee session with employers, seminars/talks and booth visitation. It was indeed a very beneficial session. The undergraduates had the opportunity to engage with top executives from the best financial planning companies in Malaysia including Ms Chung Kar Yin,  the Executive Director of  MFPC, to find out more about what the industry has to offer.

QIU graduates have been granted six modules exemption and would only have to complete one final MFPC module at the university to earn the title of Registered Financial Planner through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) inked in 2018. In addition, QIU is recognised as the Education Provider of MFPC to conduct the professional programmes for the local community and public at large in the northern region.
