QIU Students Leverage AI for Community Impact at Exhibition Day 2025

The Community Service Exhibition Day 2025 showcased how QIU students are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive positive change. Held in two phases on January 22 and February 19, the exhibition highlighted student-led projects that integrate AI into education, healthcare, and small business support.

Themed “Community AI Resources Employment,” the initiative encouraged students to explore AI-driven solutions tailored to community needs. Among the standout projects were AI-generated marketing materials for small businesses designed to improve customer engagement. Other projects focused on AI-powered cognitive games to support the development of children in orphanages and care homes. Students also explored AI applications in health screenings and BMI measurements, reinforcing the role of technology in improving well-being.

This event further strengthened QIU’s engagement with the community, with students collaborating with local organizations, including Rainbow Children’s Home, The Salvation Army, Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh, and several others. By working closely with these groups, students gained hands-on experience in applying AI for real-world impact.

The exhibition also aligned with QIU’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure). With students from multiple faculties taking part, the event highlighted QIU’s commitment to innovative learning and community service.

Senior university leaders, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Zita Mohd Fahmi, Director of Academic Affairs Prof. Dr Tina Lim Swee Kim, and Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Dr Suki Chin Sook Fui, attended the exhibition and commended students for their creativity and impactful contributions. The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the projects as impressive and inspiring.
