QIU has expanded its network of international education partners by launching a new collaboration with another institute of higher learning from India.
We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Al-Shifa College of Pharmacy (ACP) to open new avenues of bilateral cooperation in research, conferences, student exchanges, and much more.
During the virtual signing ceremony, the agreement was signed by QIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Zita Mohd Fahmi and ACP Managing Trustee Dr P. Unneen. Also present to witness the signing were QIU Faculty of Pharmacy Dean Professor Datuk Dr Allan Mathews and ACP Principal Prof. Dr TNK Suriyaprakash.

Launched in 2002, the Kerala college offers undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy programmes, ranging from Bachelor courses to Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) programmes. From 2017 to 2021, it notched up the top spot in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking in its state.
The cooperation will benefit students from both sides, as QIU’s Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme is one of the most extensive and holistic programmes of its kind in Malaysia.
Fully accredited for a maximum period by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, QIU’s programme excelled in 10 areas of good practice, achieving an official status of ‘Excellent’ in the process.
Under the MoU, the two institutions agreed to collaborate on mobility programmes—including internships, study visits and industrial visits. Academics from both sides will also work together on guest lectures and co-lectures, research, conferences, and workshops.
QIU will also plan a global immersion programme (GIP) for Pharm. D students from ACP to do their clinical attachment in Malaysia.
Recently, QIU also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India’s SAGE University, cooperating on educational, research and social activities in biotechnology encompassing plant tissue culture, agriculture, nanobiotechnology, cancer biology, genetic engineering and molecular biology.
Congratulations to all parties involved, and we look forward to more excellent educational achievements from this partnership!
