QIU inks MOU to explore medicinal value of FUTEA

Quest International University Perak (QIU) is passionate about pursuing researches that focus on helping mankind and making a difference in the world. This was affirmed when the University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) recently with Malaysia FUTEA Association.

Diabetes is a major concern globally today and a potential cure could help mankind greatly. The fermented black tea containing therapeutic compound Eurotium cristatum, touted as Golden Flower has attracted wide attention from the international scientific community.

It has been reported that the Golden Flower in Futea could potentially regulate the body’s metabolism, lowering blood sugar, lowering lipid and blood pressure, cancer and cardiovascular disease prevention. The MOU will see QIU’s staff and students particularly from the Faculty of Pharmacy carrying out research related to Phytoconstituents and antioxidant properties of Futea.

Chief Operating Officer of QIU, Mr Nicholas Goh and President of Malaysia Futea Association, Mr David Lim sealed the deal at a signing ceremony at the campus.

QIU academicians and researchers are passionate, industry-savvy, creative, and highly acclaimed. Students will benefit tremendously from their knowledge and experiences. During their time at QIU, students will gain first-hand knowledge of impactful, ground-breaking research, supervised by a brilliant panel of staff. The MOU is a testament to how QIU is constantly looking for collaboration avenues to expose students with real-world happenings, as exemplified by the tagline of Faculty of Pharmacy: Real World Holistic Pharmacy Education
