QIU Celebrates Valentine’s Day With Senior Citizens

Valentine’s Day is the time where everyone, old and young alike, has the chance to celebrate love and cherish their relationships.

While the celebration has come and gone, it’s not too late to spread the love to our senior citizens – and Quest International University Perak’s (QIU) students did just that by throwing them a special Valentine’s Day high tea party here recently.

More than 30 senior citizens from Ipoh’s Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas  (PAWE)were guests of honour during the ceremony, which was jointly organised by 16 of the University’s student clubs and societies.

The event, which was the first of its kind in QIU, was put together to celebrate the guests while giving our students another opportunity to organise an impactful event in the community.

“Our student clubs are incredibly active, and we always want their initiatives to make a lasting impact on the society around them. At the same time, they will learn so much from the hands-on experience that they gain,” said QIU Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh.

“Today, they have put together a wonderful Valentine’s Day treat for our guests. It’s a celebration for everyone, and the students have done well to ensure that senior citizens are at the centre of the festivities.”

To get the balling rolling, the seniors were given a special Valentine’s Day makeover courtesy of the in-house beauty experts from QIU’s staff and students. Also on the itinerary were gift exchanges, party games, dancing and a delicious high-tea buffet.

The event was a definite hit among the guests, who were all smiles as they enjoyed their special day.

“I was so happy to meet so many different young people from different countries and backgrounds. The celebration was fun and I really enjoyed the gift as well. This is one of the best days I’ve had recently and I hope more events like this will be held in the future,” said one of the guests, 68-year-old Chemor native Teh Wai See (pictured below).
