Prof Zita Mohd Fahmi Conducts Workshop on MQF

To produce top-quality students, education institutions must always ensure that their teaching methods are up-to-date with the latest requirements and standards.

As part of QIU’s efforts to keep abreast of the latest changes, QIU had the honour of welcoming former Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Prof Zita Mohd Fahmi to share her educational insights with our academics.

Prof Zita, who is the Secretary of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) and the Special Advisor for Association of Quality Assurance Agencies of the Islamic World (QA Islamic), conducted a one-and-a-half day-long workshop on the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) 2nd Edition today.

The MQF is an instrument that develops and classifies qualifications based on a set of criteria that are approved nationally and benchmarked against international best practices, and which clarifies the earned academic levels, learning outcomes of study areas and credit system based on student academic load.
The talk covered the purpose, scope and the scope of the 2nd edition of the MQF and also educated the participants on how to develop strategies to realign the Programme Learning Outcomes to the new learning domains. Among the myriad of topics covered, Prof Zita delved into what influenced the MQF on-going development designing programme for students, the influences of technology, and the importance of looking ahead.
Her insight into quality assurance proved invaluable, drawing on her experience of active involvement in setting standards, establishing and reviewing quality assurance mechanism and capacity building initiatives in quality assurance throughout over three decades in the public sector.
QIU would like to express our deepest gratitude to Prof Zita for sharing her knowledge with us and making this event a wonderful success.
