QIUP is proud to appoint Ms Yap Suan See, Vice President / Managing Director, Finisar Malaysia Sdn Bhd as our Industrial Advisor for Faculty of Integrative Sciences and Technology (FIST).
This appointment is in line with the University’s commitment to ensure that our programmes are Industry relevant and our students are job ready when they graduate. We are confident that Ms Yap’s vast experience will contribute immensely to the future development of FIST.
Among her contributions to FIST will be programme review with an expert’s focus on its relevance to industry requirements and continued enhancement of programmes that meet the future requirements of the industry. She will also advise the Faculty on relevant matters to stay abreast of technology and industry practices, and collaborate to enhance and sustain academic standards of programmes.

With more than 8,000 employees, Finisar has sales, channel, and support offices worldwide. Finisar Malaysia is located in Ipoh, Perak is one of the largest MNC in Perak and has been around for the past 10 years. They now have enlarged their scope of responsibility beyond manufacturing to include functions such as Asia and Europe Inside Sales, Far East Contract Manufacturer support (CMOG), World wide Accounts Payable (AP) function and Legal support to the corporate legal functions.
QIUP is also looking at working with Finisar on talent development such as training their staff in engineering fundamentals, English proficiency, communication skills & presentation skills. Besides talent development, other areas that are looked at include continuing education for their staff who hold Diplomas to undergo QIUP’s Bachelor of Engineering programmes on a part time mode.
