MBA STUDENTS EXPLORE BUSINESS SUSTAINABILITY WITH AQM

What is sustainability?  Why do we need to think about sustainability?  How can our actions reflect the principles of sustainability?  These were some of the questions raised by Aggie Lee, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the AQM Group of Companies, in her recent talk to QIU MBA students.

During her fascinating talk, Lee answered these questions by sharing AQM’s journey to sustainability – including how it started and the measures they took to reach their goals.

Lee noted that AQM was driven by their aspiration to comply with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 11 and 12 – which are ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’ and ‘Responsible Consumption’ respectively.

Based in Cheras Jaya, the AQM Group of Companies started operations in 1989. It provides integrated marketing communications solutions to its partners across the Asia Pacific region, covering the entire on-ground customer journey from awareness to engagement.

As a result, the company has its own triple bottom line that focuses on People, Planet and Profit.

As multinational corporations move towards sustainable practices, they require the same from their suppliers and partners as well.  This comes in the form of being certified by Sedex – a not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains.

AQM is also certified by the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) – one of the most widely used ethical audit forms in the world.

As a strong advocate of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, QIU is always thrilled to spread the word about sustainable practices along with like-minded organisations devoted to the cause.

This Meet the Expert session provided QIU’s MBA students with an insight into a real-world implementation of sustainable business practices.
