Here’s something you may not know about Special Needs Education (SNE): each special needs student gets their own Individual Education Programme that’s developed specifically for them!
Interesting, right? It’s really pretty great because each student has a programme formulated specifically according to what they require when they learn – which can be quite varied.
With one of the nation’s foremost SNE academics Ms Johanna Means teaching right here at QIU, the Faculty of Social Sciences’ School of Education had the pleasure of organising a workshop on ‘The ABCs of IEPs’ last Saturday.

More than 200 participants from India, Malaysia, USA, Brunei, Indonesia, and the Philippines joined the workshop, which is yet another sign of how our events are making waves all over the world!
Ms Johanna helped the participants understand what IEPs are all about, who are involved in them and what the Malaysian IEP requires. Her workshop also explored IEP samples and taught the participants to write specific, measurable, achievable, results-oriented, and time-bound (SMART) goals.

Congratulations to Ms Johanna and the School of Education team for planning and putting on another fantastic webinar – stay tuned for more fascinating events in the future!
