Quest International University Perak (QIUP) today had the pleasure of having 2 renowned doctors from Singapore speaking to the academic staff of the Faculty of Medicine. The 2 doctors were Dr Lim Chong Hoe and Dr. Lau Boon Kwang.
Dr. Lim is a cardiothoracic surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. Aside from clinical work, Dr Lim is a senior lecturer and an adjunct associate professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School. He also lectures at regional and international conferences.
Dr. Lau is a Doctor in Bedok North, Singapore and has 27 years of experience in this field. Dr. Lau practices at YSL Bedok Clinic & Surgery Pte Ltd in Bedok North, Singapore and Dr B K Lau Aesthetic & Laser Clinic Pte Ltd in Aljunied, Singapore. He is a member of Singapore Medical Council.
This talk was arranged by Mr. Zaheer Merchant, QI Group Director for Corporate & Legal Affairs & Director for Education. In line with the University’s mission to constantly benchmark our curriculum internationally, having renowned guest doctors talk series is the way moving forward in understanding what the industry requires. Among the topics touched upon included how to ensure the curriculum is relevant practically and be able to help a student apply what they have learnt instead of a memorization exercise.
The session proved to be very beneficial as academic staff had the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest developments in the medical industry and to have dialogues and exchange of ideas between academia and practitioners. We thank both Dr. Lim and Dr. Lau for taking time off from their busy schedules to be here to share their experience.
