QIU Enters Strategic Partnership with Malaysian Institute of Food Technology

QIU has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enriching research, education, and career opportunities in the field of food science and technology.

The MoU establishes a collaborative framework between the two institutions to drive innovation and strengthen the food technology ecosystem in Malaysia. The agreement reflects both parties’ shared vision of nurturing talent, advancing research, and creating stronger linkages between academia and industry.

Under the terms of the MoU, QIU and MIFT will collaborate on various initiatives, including:

  • The joint promotion of QIU’s food science research and MIFT’s professional programmes;
  • Career development opportunities for QIU’s food science students;
  • Organising joint workshops and training programmes;
  • QIU student involvement in MIFT’s prestigious National Food Science and Technology Competition;
  • Industry-academia collaboration and networking opportunities.

The MoU was signed by Mr Nicholas Goh, CEO of Global Integrated Training Associates and Dr Koh Yew Ming, President of MIFT. The ceremony was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Vilasini Pillai, Dean of QIU’s Faculty of Integrated Life Sciences, and Ms. Norsalehah Nasir of MIFT.

“This collaboration represents our commitment to providing students with meaningful, real-world exposure to the food industry while also contributing to national development through science and innovation,” said Mr Nicholas.

MIFT, a non-profit professional body, plays a pivotal role in linking government, academia, and the food industry. Its focus on facilitating discussions, knowledge-sharing, and specialised training complements QIU’s goal of cultivating industry-ready graduates equipped to meet emerging challenges in the food science sector.

This collaboration is expected to open new avenues for QIU students and faculty, while also strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in food science research and innovation.
