QIUP launches Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Hons) Programme

To meet the increasing demand of well-trained biomedical scientists, Quest International University Perak’s Faculty of Medicine is launching a full-time programme leading to the award of a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Hons).

With an excellent track record, the Faculty of Medicine pledges that this would be an academically robust and sustainable programme with international benchmarking and recognition. The inaugural intake is slated to start in November 2015.

Speaking about the programme, the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nicholas Goh added “the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at QIUP aims at providing comprehensive training to the students in various disciplines of medical sciences. The four years training will provide them the opportunity to acquire sound knowledge and fundamental skills that are integral to the research in medical-related fields.”

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Alam Sher Malik, the curriculum of the programme has been well thought of for preparing the graduates to face the challenges in their future working environments.

“QIUP Biomedical programme will provide the students with a systematic understanding of the fundamentals of human biology, including a coherent and detailed knowledge of biochemistry, pharmacology, and the pathophysiology of diseases.

“The curriculum will help the students to attain a level of conceptual understanding in their research projects and other laboratory work which will enable them to formulate and develop hypotheses and solve problems using relevant, cutting-edge techniques. Through group work of information gathering, literature reviewing, reports writing, poster and oral presentations, the students will acquire the ability to an in-depth learning of scientific writing and communication skills” added Professor Malik.

The graduates of this programme will be well-trained to develop careers in areas such as Clinical Biochemist,  Molecular Geneticist, Forensic Scientist, Microbiologist, Immunologist, Haematologist, Toxicologist,  Research Scientist and Bioinformatician. They will also acquire an excellent base for future study at the level of Master / PhD.

Registration is now open for the November intake of the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (Hons) programme.
