QIU welcomed its latest batch of future medical heroes today, during our first-ever online orientation session for Faculty of Medicine (FOM) students.

Today’s orientation continued the University’s ongoing pivot to online education, where classes, registration, orientation and many other activities are carried out on a digital platform. It was, of course, the first time that a FOM orientation had been held fully online.

The engaging session was held on Google Meet, and was kicked off by a welcoming speech from QIU Registrar Muhammad MG Omar.

In his address, the Registrar congratulated the students for making the right choice by joining QIU’s medical programme.

“There are many things that changed after Covid-19 first hit the country. But our commitment to quality education and our students’ welfare remains our top priority,” he said.

“We’re not going to pretend that this isn’t unusual. But all of us at QIU, especially your lecturers, are eager to guide you through your educational journey. Rest assured that all of us are working doubly hard to bring you the best university experience possible.”

The students were introduced to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dato’ Dr Sellaiah S.Pillay, and the different divisions in the University.

Their orientation is set to continue next week during the Faculty Orientation and Briefing sessions which will be held on May 18 (Monday), as well as the Clubs and Societies briefing on May 20 (Wednesday).

Once again, we’d like to welcome the new members of the QIU family. Arise, awake, achieve!
