QIUP staff do their bit for charity

Malaysia is a multi-racial country and we celebrate the many festivals of the different cultures in Malaysia. As a nation, we all come together as one and celebrate these wonderful occasions. When our celebration day approaches, we are very busy cleaning and beautifying our houses to welcome our friends who will be visiting us.

Unfortunately, not everyone is lucky and is able to be excited during their festive celebrations. It is with this in mind that about 30 QIUP staff recently spent a fun filled Saturday morning cleaning and painting the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Ipoh (Ipoh Disabled Children Welfare Association). This home, which houses about 60 residents is located near the QIUP Faculty of Medicine.

Residents from this home range from 15 to 60 years old and comprises of orphans, blind, autistic, senior citizens and the disabled.

This was the first activity organised under the QIUP Staff Social Responsibility Committee (SSR) and was aimed at bringing more cheer to the residents in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year.

“I was very humbled at the opportunity to be part of this noble cause and had a fun time mingling and helping out at the home. It was very gratifying to see the smiling faces of the residents who were so glad that we dropped by to spruce up their home,” said Dr. Kamariah Hasan, Senior Lecturer who was part of the QIUP entourage.

We look forward to more activities which will be organised by the QIUP SSR Committee which aims to make the community a better place!
