It was indeed a very proud day when QIUP medical students clinched 2nd placing at the Intervarsity Medical Quiz 2016 held at University Kebangsaan Malaysia today.
QIUP team members, consisting of Chung Ming Hong, Theena, Oh Jia Chi and Devaki fought off steep challenge from participating teams to emerge runner-up in this 3 round competition. Final results of the competition are UKM – champions, QIUP – 2nd placing and USIM – 3rd placing.
This accomplishment is very impressive for QIUP considering they were up against teams from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), University Islam Antarabangsa (UIA), University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), International Medical University (IMU), Management & Science University (MSU) and Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS).
An elated Mr. Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer said that the University seeks to produce graduates who excel in their respective area of study.
“We do not want to be another degree mill. We want our undergraduates to not only excel in their studies but also be actively participating in various conferences, sports and educational competitions during their study here.
“Today’s remarkable 2nd placing at the Intervarsity Medical Quiz 2016 is a testament to that fact. I congratulate the QIUP team and also the reputable academic staff for preparing the students to participate in this competition” added Mr. Goh.
