QIU has formalised a strategic partnership with Valley International School (VIS) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step towards strengthening academic progression pathways, early talent development, and collaborative innovation between secondary and tertiary education.
The MoU was signed on by GITA CEO Mr Nicholas Goh, representing Quest International University, and Mr Govinda Visvalingam, Director of TIPS Educate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
Under the agreement, QIU recognises VIS’s Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) for entry into a wide range of undergraduate programmes, including medicine, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, engineering, information technology, and business-related disciplines. The partnership also establishes structured recruitment and placement pathways for VIS students completing OSSD and IGCSE qualifications, enabling a smoother transition into university education.
A key component of the MoU is the development of early university exposure initiatives for VIS students. QIU will offer short introductory modules and optional micro-certifications in areas such as medical science, pharmacy and health, engineering design, data science, and artificial intelligence. These initiatives are designed to familiarise school students with university-level learning while nurturing interest in STEM and professional disciplines at an early stage.
The collaboration also extends to joint academic, innovation, and research activities, including coding, AI, robotics, drone technology, and STEM innovation programmes. Both institutions plan to organise workshops, competitions, hackathons, and innovation challenges, while exploring joint research initiatives in areas such as STEM pedagogy, AI in education, community health education, youth development, and sustainable technologies.
Speaking on the collaboration, GITA CEO Nicholas Goh highlighted QIU’s applied and practice-oriented approach to education.
“At QIU, our learning places an emphasis on case studies, implementing knowledge to solve real world problems. We look forward to work together with like-minded institutions like VIS to offer more educational opportunities for talented young minds.”
Director of TIPS Educate Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, Govinda Visvalingam, underscored the shared educational philosophy between the two institutions.
“We share a common belief with QIU on what education is supposed to do. Learning can’t be reduced to checklists because what matters is how students grow and learn to reason. We focus not only on who they are now, but also what they’ll become.”
The MoU further supports experiential learning and professional development, including practicum and internship opportunities for QIU students at VIS, access for VIS students to selected QIU facilities, and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes for VIS educators. In addition, both institutions will collaborate on community engagement and corporate social responsibility initiatives, such as STEM outreach programmes, health awareness campaigns, and digital literacy workshops.
This collaboration reflects QIU’s continued commitment to building strong educational ecosystems that bridge school-level education and university learning, while fostering innovation, research, and meaningful community impact.
