Medical Students Secure Stunning Second Place at National Intervarsity Physiology Quiz

What’s the best part of cultivating a tradition of competitive success? It’s when our students add to the list by achieving another top-class result!

This time, our Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students flew to a second-place finish at the Malaysian Physiology Quiz (MyPQ), hosted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Our Year 3 and Year 5 students placed second among a field of 18 private and public universities nationwide, including Monash University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, AIMST University, SEGI University, and many more. In the final reckoning, they finished narrowly behind Universiti Malaya and ahead of hosts UKM.

Here are the names of our team members who shone in the spotlight again:

  • Tan Qi Yu
  • Anuka Dewanga Wanigasinghe Mudiyanselage
  • Deenesha Ravi Chandran
  • Pravina Ramakrishnan

This is the second big result notched up by our talented medical students, after they won a national intervarsity surgical quiz last year.

Tan Qi Yu is no stranger to the competitive realm, having been part of that champion team. Along with her sister Tan Qi Ning, she also made headlines for being one of two teen prodigies who entered medical school at 13 and 15 years old. A special shoutout as well to the academics who trained the team—Prof Lincoln Deva Kumar Stephen and Associate Professor Dr Kanakeswary Karisnan.

Congratulations to our fantastic students and faculty for continuing the winning tradition!
