MANAGING EMOTIONS WITH THE SCHOOL OF PSYCHOLOGY

The advancement of education methods has always been something that is close to our heart at QIU.

Yesterday, our School of Psychology organised a special talk titled ‘Managing Emotions’, designed to guide local student counsellors on how they can help adolescent students express their emotions healthily.

QIU Chief Operating Officer Mr Nicholas Goh, QIU Registrar Mr Muhammad MG Omar, Kinta Utara Assistant District Education Officer (Student Affairs) Zaherien Rahmat, Kinta Utara Assistant District Education Officer (Guidance and Counselling) Roslan Yahaya and Kinta Utara National Counselling Teachers’ Council chairman Solihuddin Fahmi graced the event with their presence.

Nearly 50 counsellors from schools around the Kinta Utara district attended the seminar, which was conducted by the Faculty of Social Sciences’ Deputy Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr Lee Shu Chin.

Dr Lee was aided by her dedicated and talented team of facilitators, consisting of Dr Junaidah Yusof, Mr Muthualagan Thangavelu, and Ms Aida Diyana Nabila Abdul Rahman.

Dr Lee and her team explored topics like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), anger triggers, cognitive restructuring, and relaxation techniques. The event was conducted in an interactive, casual setting with excellent participation from the attendees.

In all, it was an engaging event that strengthened our bond with our fellow educators. QIU would like to thank all the Perak Education Department, the participating teachers, and of course our organising committee for making this event a success.
